Beautiful Mind was founded in celebration and loving memory of Sarita Lam, a brilliant computer scientist, devoted wife, and doting mother who was diagnosed with schizophrenia in her late twenties. In 2013, she committed suicide.

Following her shocking and devastating death, the questions “How could a person who loves us so much leave us so abruptly?” and “What could have we done to prevent it?” arose, again and again, inspiring us to create a nonprofit dedicated to suicide prevention
